Harris Shutter
Harris Shutter
What if our world were black and white but any movement created a momentary burst of color? A moment captured might look something like the images in this gallery. All color in these images was contributed by change occurring at the time of capture. All static subject matter is depicted in greyscale. Of course, a color world could behave this way as well. The image of Ghirardelli Square is an example.
The "Harris Shutter" was invented by Robert S. Harris of Kodak using color film. I have extended the technique here to bring it into the realm of black and white.
